Dr. Shin received his undergraduate degree from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL, and his Doctor of Optometry from Marshall B. Ketchum University in Fullerton, CA.  He completed training at the University Eye Center at Ketchum Health, VA Bakersfield Outpatient Clinic, and the John Wesley Community Health Institute.

He is board certified by the National Board of Examiners and the American Board of Optometry, a distinction held by only two optometrists in Gig Harbor.  He is also a member of the American Optometric Association, the Optometric Physicians of Washington, and the Gig Harbor Chamber of Commerce.

Dr. Shin has received 11 awards for professional and clinical excellence, including the prestigious VSP Scholarship for Excellence in Primary Care.  He is extensively trained in the treatment of red eyes, dry eyes, cataracts, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration and glaucoma.  He practices all forms of primary care optometry and is an expert at fitting standard and medically-necessary contact lenses.

Outside of work, Dr. Shin loves cycling, traveling, and spending time with his wife and two young boys.
